I met Erica last year through a mutual friend and I instantly loved her. She is tough, funny, and beautiful. She is a hard working single mom to three incredible kids and is so much fun to be with.
When we started brainstorming ideas for their session she told me, “I don’t want green. I want something different. We are very casual. Would it be weird if we wore black?”
I’ll admit I was like “WHAT!? NO GREEN!?” – I mean it’s my favorite color and look at the IG feed. But then I was excited because she was asking me to get out of my comfort zone and while that is nerve-wracking, as an artist, it’s always good to stretch your creative muscles.
This family came to slay. We have Mom in that stunning black dress. One kid in a skull shirt, another in a camel-colored sweatshirt, and one with a leather jacket. ALL THE YES.
Towards the end of the session, I was kinda hitting a block on poses when Erica put on her gorgeous jacket. *light bulb!* I asked how she felt about trying to emulate a celebrate with her kids and me being the paparazzi. She was down and I LOVE those series of photos. So glamorous and so different than normal family photos.
Mom’s boyfriend was there for moral support but I asked him to hop in at the end to pretend to be their bodyguard. I should have had him walk a smidge closer to look more bodyguard and less stalker BUT I still love the photos.
Erica – you and your kids are amazing. This sessions was so fun and I loved working with you guys!
